How to Create a Quote

This page is meant to be used while you work. If you are brand new, follow the steps in order: customer, address, products, shipping, preview, publish.

Before You Begin

Have These Ready

  • The customer or company name
  • The products you want to quote
  • The delivery ZIP code

The Simple Path

  1. Pick the customer
  2. Check contact and addresses
  3. Add products
  4. Add shipping
  5. Preview the quote
  6. Publish the quote

1

Start with the customer

On the right side, click the Customer field and type part of the company name. Matching accounts appear automatically below the field. Click the correct company to select it.

Typing a customer name and seeing search results Type the company name here Click the correct match

The Customer field is already searching CRM for you.

Not finding the customer? Try fewer words, usually just the first word of the company name. If no match appears, manual account entry is the fallback for customers that are genuinely missing from CRM.
2

Check the contact and addresses

After you pick the customer, Quote Creator fills in the Contact, the Ship-To address, and the Billing address. Stop and look at all three before you go further.

If the company has more than one contact, pick the right person from the Contact dropdown. If the shipping address is wrong, switch to manual entry and type the correct address.

Fix customer and address issues now, not after items are added.

Important: If you change the customer later, the quote can reset and you may have to start over.
3

Add products

Use the left side of the screen to find products. You can browse, search, or click a category tab to narrow the list. When you find what you need, click + Add.

Added items appear in the Live Cart on the right. There you can change the quantity and price if needed.

Each line shows quantity, unit price, and line total.

Need to remove something? Use the X in the cart, or click the green "In Cart" button on the product card.
4

Add shipping

Go to Shipping & Handling on the right side. Enter the delivery 5-digit ZIP code. If the destination is a home, check Residential Delivery. Then click the shipping rate you want to use.

Leave Include SH checked for a normal quote. If this quote should go out with no Shipping & Handling line at all, uncheck Include SH. The whole shipping section will gray out, and Shipping & Handling will be left out of the quote until you turn it back on.

Once the ZIP code is in, pick the shipping option you want.

If you see "rate shopping blocked" instead of shipping rates, one or more products in the cart are missing shipping data. In that case, wait for the data to be fixed, enter a shipping amount manually, or uncheck Include SH if shipping should be omitted from the quote entirely.
5

Preview the quote

Before you publish, click Preview. The preview shows the full quote in one place: customer, contact, ship-to address, products, shipping, and total. Nothing is sent yet.

Read through it carefully. If something is wrong, close the preview, fix the quote, and preview again.

Quote preview window showing the complete quote summary Customer and address Every product listed Final total

The preview is your last check before anything is sent.

Best practice: Preview every quote before you publish, especially if you changed quantities, prices, or shipping by hand.
6

Publish the quote

At the bottom of the form, check the Subtotal, Shipping, and Total. If those numbers look right, click Publish Quote.

After publishing, wait for the success message and open the quote link to confirm it went through. If you are saving a draft instead of publishing live, the confirmation will still tell you where the draft went.

Preview is the safety check. Publish is the final send.

Do not click publish twice unless you clearly saw a failure. Wait for the result message first.
7

If you are lost on the screen

Quote Creator has two sides. The left side is where you find products. The right side is where you build the quote. Most of your work on the right side happens from top to bottom.

If Something Goes Wrong

The customer I need is not showing up.
The Customer field is already searching CRM for you. Try fewer words, usually just the first word of the company name. If no match appears, manual account entry is the fallback only when the customer is genuinely missing from CRM.
The shipping address that filled in is wrong.
Switch to manual entry and type the correct address. Look for a manual or edit option near the Ship-To section.
I see "rate shopping blocked" instead of shipping options.
That means one or more products in the cart are missing shipping data. You can remove those products, wait for the data to be corrected, enter a shipping amount by hand, or uncheck Include SH if shipping should be omitted from the quote entirely.
I need to send the quote without any Shipping & Handling line.
Uncheck Include SH next to the edit icon in Shipping & Handling. The section will gray out, and the quote will submit without an SH line. If you change your mind, check it again and the shipping section turns back on.
The status at the top says the automation is offline.
Wait a moment and refresh the page. If it still says Offline after a couple tries, that is a system problem, not user error. Let a manager know.
I published the quote but I am not sure it went through.
After publishing, a success message should appear with a link to the quote in Quoter. Open that link to confirm. If no message appeared or you saw an error, ask for help before trying again repeatedly.
I made a mistake after publishing. Can I fix it here?
No. Quote Creator does not edit quotes that have already been published. Make the correction directly in Quoter, or create a new quote.
What are the toggles at the top right?
Most reps can ignore them at first. Review Before Start gives you one last confirmation screen. Auto Publish sends the quote live instead of saving a draft. Show Browser makes the shared browser visible. Watch Live lets you watch it from your computer.
